How soon can I start my career as a Medical Assistant?
Our Medical Assistant program is designed to get you ready for the workforce quickly. You can complete the day program in approximately 30 weeks or the evening program in about 38 weeks, including hands-on lab work and a clinical externship. This means you’ll be prepared to start working in healthcare in less than a year.
Are Medical Assistant classes online?
Students take their first 6 weeks of classes online, doing their general education coursework. After that, the program transitions to in-person classes Monday through Thursday for hands-on clinical and administrative training.
Do I need prior healthcare experience to enroll?
No previous medical experience is required. The program is beginner-friendly and only requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Our instructors guide you through every step, from learning foundational concepts to mastering advanced clinical and administrative skills.
What skills will I learn in this program?
You’ll gain a well-rounded set of skills that includes:
- Clinical techniques such as taking vitals, performing EKGs, assisting with exams, drawing blood and preparing lab samples.

Will I get real-world experience before graduation?
Yes! MCC’s curriculum includes a clinical externship at the end of your program at local healthcare facilities. Providing students with hands-on experience in a professional environment. Is certification required to work as a Medical Assistant?
While certification is not legally required, most employers require it. MCC’s program prepares you to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam, which can improve your job prospects, starting salary, and career growth opportunities.
